The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr.CCIT), Pune Region, has invited applications from meritorious sportspersons for direct recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade-II, Tax Assistant, and Multi-Tasking Staff. Only meritorious sportspersons who have represented the country, a State/UT, a University, or their State School in one of the 17 recognized sports/games listed in the notification are eligible to apply. Sports achievements/participation of candidates will be considered only up to the date of this notification, i.e. 10.08.2026. Any sports achievement obtained after this date will not be considered for recruitment under the sports quota.

• The candidate must be a citizen of India.
• The candidate must belong to one of the 17 recognized sports/games listed above and must be able to produce a self-attested certificate of eligibility (Form-1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, as applicable) from a competent authority. A candidate who cannot produce at least one such certificate along with the application need not apply.
• The candidate must fulfil the essential educational qualification and age limit prescribed for the post applied for.

Income Tax Department Pune Recruitment 2026 Selection Criteria

Meritorious sportspersons will be selected as per the order of preference prescribed by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) OM No. 14034/1/95-Estt.(D) dated 04.05.1995, read with DoPT OM No. 1720781414772 dated 04.03.2024.

• In the event of a tie, candidates who secured a higher position or won more than one medal may be given preference.
• Participation in an individual event and a team event/item may be given the same preference.
• No additional preference is given for winning more than one medal/position.
• Any doubt about the status of a tournament will be decided by the DoPT in consultation with the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Income Tax Department Pune Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

As per Government of India instructions for meritorious sportspersons, relaxation of the upper age limit up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years in the case of SC/ST candidates) may be allowed. This relaxation is admissible only to sportspersons who satisfy all other eligibility conditions related to education and sports qualifications, and who furnish a certificate in the prescribed form from a prescribed authority.

• Application fee payable: ₹200 (Rupees Two Hundred only).
• The fee must be paid through online mode only, and proof of payment must be furnished with the application.
• Applications received without payment of the requisite fee will be treated as INCOMPLETE and rejected.
• The fee, once paid, shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

The notification does not mention any fee exemption or concession for any category of candidates.

1. Go through the notification, instructions to candidates, and vacancy positions carefully before filling up the application form.
2. Submit the application online from 15.08.2026 till the last date, 15.09.2026, using the link on the notification/advertisement uploaded at https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/pune/news-updates, or directly at https://www.itsportsrecruitmentpune.com.
3. Upload all relevant/necessary documents along with the application form.
4. Indicate the post(s) being applied for clearly in the "Post applied for" column, with your order of preference (first preference, second preference, and so on) if applying for more than one post.
5. Select the relevant games/sports if you wish to be considered under more than one game/sport, within the same single application.
6. Upload the SC/ST caste certificate in the prescribed form, if claiming such relaxation.
7. Pay the application fee of ₹200 through online mode and attach proof of payment with the application.
8. Submit the application before the last date, 15.09.2026. Only one application is permitted per candidate - submitting more than one application will lead to summary rejection of all such applications.

• Failure to comply with the instructions/conditions prescribed in the notification will result in rejection of the application, with no intimation served and no communication entertained in this regard.
• In the event of any tie or any other case, the decision of the Pr. CCIT, Pune, shall be final.

• Any form of canvassing by a candidate will render their candidature liable to summary rejection at any stage of the recruitment process.
• The Pr. CCIT, Pune, may cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason.

• On appointment, the candidate will be posted within the Pr. CCIT, Pune region.
• Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years, or such period as per extant Government of India instructions.
• Selected candidates for Stenographer Grade-II must qualify a Skill Test: a Dictation test of 10 minutes at 80 words per minute, and Transcription at 50 wpm (English) and 65 wpm (Hindi), on computers only.
• Selected candidates for Tax Assistant must qualify a Data Entry Skill Test at 8,000 key depressions per hour.
• Selected candidates must produce relevant original certificates when called for.
• Medical fitness of candidates will be ascertained by the Office of the Pr. CCIT, Pune Region, before formal appointment.
• Candidates must be clear in all doping tests conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)/National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) or other relevant authorities, with no ongoing investigation regarding doping or unfair means; a declaration to this effect must be furnished.
• Appointment is subject to police verification clearance from the candidate's current place of residence.
• No Travelling Allowance will be paid to selected candidates for their journey to Pune to join the Department after selection.
• If, at any stage during or after the recruitment process, a candidate is found to have furnished wrong information, a false statement or declaration, or misrepresented facts, their candidature or appointment will be liable for cancellation.
