Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online recruitment applications under Special Advertisement No. 51/2026 for a total of 828 vacancies, comprising 124 posts of Principal and 704 posts of Vice Principal in the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. UPSC Recruitment 2026 - Educational Qualification

Note: Qualifications and experience are relaxable at the discretion of UPSC for reasons recorded in writing, particularly for otherwise well-qualified candidates and for SC/ST candidates where sufficient experienced candidates are not available.

Age is further relaxable up to 10 years for PwBD candidates, subject to a maximum age limit of 56 years. Additional relaxations apply for Ex-Servicemen (5 years) and Central/UT Government employees (up to 5 years), as detailed in the Concessions & Relaxations section of the notification.

Selection Process

Selection will be made through a Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) to shortlist candidates for interview, followed by a Personality Test/Interview. Key details:

  • CRT will be held on 01 November 2026 at 15 designated centres.
  • The test is of 2 hours' duration, objective type (MCQs), available in English and Hindi, carrying a maximum of 300 marks.
  • There is negative marking: one-third of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Weightage of CRT and Interview marks is 75:25 for determining final merit.
  • Minimum suitability standard in interview: General/EWS – 50 marks, OBC – 45 marks, SC/ST/PwBD – 40 marks (out of 100).

How to Apply

Eligible candidates can apply online from 25 July 2026 to 14 August 2026 (up to 1800 Hrs) through https://upsconline.nic.in/ora/. The process involves four modules:

  1. Account creation
  2. Universal Registration (generates a Universal Registration Number – URN)
  3. Common Application Form (CAF)
  4. Post/Vacancy-specific module (to be filled within the notified time period)

Candidates must upload a photograph, capture a live photo, and upload their signature (signed thrice on plain white paper) as part of the CAF. Applications, once submitted, cannot be withdrawn or edited. Candidates are strongly advised to use their Aadhaar Card for ID verification and to apply well in advance of the closing date.

Note: Documents like Pay Slip, Resume, Appointment Letter, Relieving Letter, or unsigned Experience Certificates must NOT be uploaded.

Important Instructions

  • Reservation under OBC category applies only to candidates with OBC certificates issued by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi; certificates from other States/UTs will be treated as General/Unreserved.
  • The closing date for submission of the online application is the date for determining eligibility in every respect.
  • Candidates already in regular Government service must submit a declaration that they have informed their Head of Office/Department of their application.
  • Candidates must provide a valid, active email ID, as all correspondence will be made through email only.
  • No printouts or documents are to be sent to the Commission by post; they must be brought to the interview if shortlisted.
  • Mobile phones and other electronic/communication devices are strictly banned in the examination/interview hall.
  • Face authentication is mandatory for all candidates at the examination venue/interview hall.
