There is no written test for the IOCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026. Selection for all four refinery units is entirely merit-based, with the merit list prepared on the basis of aggregate percentage of marks in the prescribed qualifying examination. Candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time will be given preference over those applying for a second time.

1. Merit List Preparation: Candidates are ranked in descending order of percentage of marks in the prescribed qualification (aggregate of all years/semesters).
2. Tie-breaking: In case of a tie in percentage, the candidate senior by age (earlier date of birth) is ranked higher. If date of birth is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage in Matriculation is ranked higher.
3. Shortlisting for Document Verification: Candidates are shortlisted based on merit and available seats. Tentative date of publication of shortlist is 05 August 2026.
4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear in person with original documents. Tentatively scheduled from 11 August 2026 to 18 August 2026.
5. Pre-Engagement Medical Examination: Candidates must pass a medical fitness test as prescribed under the Apprentices Act. Only candidates declared medically fit will proceed.
6. Offer of Engagement: Candidates whose documents and medical fitness are found in order will receive a formal engagement offer.

7. For Code 111: Skill Certificate in 'Domestic Data Entry Operator' issued under NSQF or Central Govt. recognized authority.
