CSIR ASO Recruitment 2026 Notification Out - Apply Online for 100 Assistant Section Officer Posts

Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) has released a notification to recruit 100 Assistant Section Officer (ASO) posts from the non-recommended candidates of UPSC's Civil Services Examination 2024 (CSE-2024). Online applications can be submitted from June 23, 2026 to July 13, 2026 through the official CSIR portal.

CSIR ASO Vacancy 2026 - Post-wise Details
CSIR is recruiting for 100 ASO posts across three cadres, with category-wise reservation as detailed below.
Out Of the 2 ST vacancies in Finance & Accounts, 1 is a backlog vacancy; of the 6 OBC vacancies in the same cadre, 2 are backlog. Out of the total 100 vacancies, 7 posts (including 2 backlog) are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), covering categories such as blindness/low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability, autism/intellectual disability, and multiple disabilities.
Who Can Apply for CSIR ASO Recruitment 2026?
Only candidates who hold a University degree and are non-recommended candidates of CSE-2024, as per the list available on the UPSC Pratibha Setu Portal, are eligible to apply. Candidates not meeting this condition need not apply.

CSIR ASO Selection Process 2026
Selection is based on shortlisting followed by a qualifying computer test, not a fresh written exam. Candidates will be screened using their existing CSE-2024 scores before appearing for the Computer Proficiency Test.
- Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio (5 times the vacancies per category) based on total marks (Mains + Personality Test) obtained in UPSC's CSE-2024
- Shortlisted candidates must appear for the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) - qualifying in nature, 100 marks, 1-hour duration, covering Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
- CPT qualifying threshold: UR - 40%, EWS - 37%, OBC - 37%, SC - 35%, ST - 35%, PwBD (all categories) - 30%
- CPT will be conducted in Delhi (tentatively; CSIR may conduct it elsewhere)
- Final selection is based on total CSE-2024 marks (Mains + Personality Test), subject to qualifying the CPT
- A single merit list is prepared; cadre allocation (General/Finance & Accounts/Stores & Purchase) is decided by CSIR based on merit and candidate preference, and once allotted is final

- Note the User ID and password sent to your registered email/mobile
- Log in and complete the profile page (Gender, DOB, Marital Status, Category, PwBD status, Ex-Servicemen status, etc.) - once locked, details cannot be modified
- Fill all 6 tabs: Apply, Personal Details, Education, Experience, Additional Details, Uploads
- Upload scanned photograph (jpg, <50 KB), signature (jpg, <50 KB), and required certificates (pdf, <1 MB each)
- Preview and verify the application, then click Submit
